Pass4Press for Print Ready PDF File Preparation

Pass4press is a set of standards, introduced and maintained by PPA (Periodical Publishers Association, UK). The guidelines detail how to create reliable, print-ready PDF files. A PDF file which complies with Pass4press specifications should require no additional handling instructions. Pass4press aims to increase predictability and reliability within digital workflow. The Pass4press initiative has been expanded to provide mechanisms that assist in the creation and management of digital workflows for the end-to-end production of magazines in the UK.

We encourage printers, particularly those who send their PDF files to service bureaus for film and plate output, to apply Pass4Press in their workflow. We are posting the Pass4Press Version 9 with permission from PPA. Additional information and updates are available at the PPA website.
