PIAP to
Conduct Adobe CS4 Seminars with Adobe System PTE of Singapore
In a circular dated February 11,
2009, the Printing Industries Association of the Philippines (PIAP) informed its members that the association was
working closely with Adobe System PTE ltd. of Singapore to conduct seminars and lectures on Adobe InDesign CS4,
Adobe Illustrator CS4, Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Acrobat 9.0.
The project addresses Adobe's
recognition for the need to provide tools and resources to the printers to ensure that designers ideas will be
printed as intended. While designers explore the creative features of Adobe Photoshop CS4, Adobe InDesign CS4 or
Adobe Illustrator CS4, printers need to take a more technical approach.
The seminar will focus on the needs
and requirements of printers, but is also useful for production artists who are preparing files for
print.
Participants will also be
introduced to CS4’s forensic tolls which are invaluable in highlighting potential problems. (The earlier one can
pinpoint problems in a job, the less expensive and complicated they will be to rectify). The seminar will provide a
guidance for identifying transparency effects and for preparing jobs to correctly render during
output
The seminar will also show new
print production features of CS4.
Below are the features of the
different functions of the 4 adobe products which will be discussed'

About Printing
Innovation Series# 2
Book Printing is not simply a
matter of putting colored chemicals on paper. As nice as prints can look straight out of the printer, no matter
how color correct, or how elegantly executed the layout appears, it isn’t the customer’s product until it
reaches him in a finished form. A number of elements must be in place before a print job can be called
successful. The software should be able to create a good print ready file. The right paper should be chosen to
suit the project concept, and the way to the nature of the binding. The printing itself can be on an number of
different technologies even in a single book.
With so many equipment decisions
to make, it’s a challenge for a printing firm to decide on equipment and technology. The matter is complicated
by the realization that all these components must conform to each other in scale. It makes no sense to buy
printing equipment capable of producing 1,000 books in one day then to buy finishing equipment capable of
10,000. Investment decisions of this type require a cooperation between various vendors who can propose a
solution suitable to the business scale a customer has planned on.
What you will see at Printing
Innovation Series #2 is just such a cooperative effort. It will bring together software, paper supply,
lamination, binding and, of course, printing systems in order to show you how to create a host of interesting
applications. The event welcomes you to try making these things yourself and to think about new and interesting
projects to offer your customers.
Printing Innovation Series #2 is
a joint project of Fuji Xerox and it’s partners in the industry, namely: Com Asia, Gakken (Philippines),
Prestige Paper Products, Globis Enterprises, Ynzal Marketing and the National Book Development
Board.
In order to accommodate more
participants, the 1-day event will be held twice on July 15 & 16, 2009. The venue is the Quezon City
Sports Club located at E. Rodriguez Sr. Ave. cor. 19th St., Quezon City.
The Mindanao
Printing 2009 Exhibition
The organizer, true to its
promise of making the event available to the people of Mindanao, once again will let locals of each province
witness for themselves “The Only machinery show that ever hit the whole region of Mindanao.” MAI
Management Philippines lets you see the latest technology and sophisticated machinery of the industries
involved by bringing the event back to Davao. The 3rd Mindanao Printing 2009 Exhibition is scheduled on July 23-26,
2009 at the Plenary Hall of the Banko Sentral in Davao City
The 2nd Mindanao PackProPlas/
Mindanao Printing/ Mindanao Bakery 2007 was attended by almost 60 exhibitors, 90% of which came from Manila
and 10% from companies in Cagayan de Oro, which had proven their existence in their industry. It was visited
by over 2,000 registered guests, mostly industry buyers, from decision makers to technical personnel of companies
all over the region. This event provided them a venue for their business transactions which proved to be
very successful.
The event also became a
venue of on-site selling for most of the exhibitors including large format printers, office printers,
inks, copiers, plastic resins, food and baking supplies and even automation & security supplies and
accessories. It also became the perfect instrument for bridging a connection between the Philippine Printing
Technical Foundation and the Printing Industries Association of Cagayan de Oro.
In conjunction with the 2nd
Mindanao PackProPlas/ Mindanao Printing/ Mindanao Bakery 2007 was the 3-day 2nd Printers Convention held in Gloria
Maris Restaurant, 2nd level of Limketkai Mall on 24-26 July 2007. Participants of the said convention came
from as far as Davao City and nearby cities like Iligan, Zamboanga, Butuan and Cagayan de Oro
itself.
