Print Philippines '08 to Open in September

The Printing Industries Association of the Philippines (PIAP)
will hold its Print Philippines '08 Exhibition on September 17 to 20, 2008 at the Philippine Trade & Training
Center (PTTC), Roxas Blvd., Pasay City. The theme for this year's event is "Globalization and
Digitalization".
The September event is the 4th Print Philippines exhibition to
be organized so far. The past exhibitions have experienced good attendance with a claimed visitor count of 5,000
per day The visitor profile is composed of professionals, management and technical people from the various printing
related industries.
The major leading players in the printing industry have already
secured their booths as exhibitors to the event. The list of exhibitors include: Heidelberg Philippines, Inc., Ma
Ferrostaal Philippines, Inc., Ideal Marketing and Manufacturing Corp., Copylandia Office Systems Corp., Gakken
Philippines, Inc., Globis, Inc., Canon Marketing Philippines, Star Paper Corp., Graphic Sales Center, Inc. and
ATI-TGRAF Team Graphics. As of the end of July, almost 90% of booth reservation has been
registered.
The event will run for 4 days instead of the previous 3 days. A
series of seminars on the latest trends in printing technology have also been scheduled for visitors to
attend.

Philippines to Host 10th FAGAT Conference in September
2008
The Philippine Printing Technical Foundation (PPTF) achieved a
major milestone when it won last June 10, 2007 in Beijing the bid to host the 10th Forum of Asian Pacific Graphic
Arts Technology (FAGAT) in the Philippines. The event will be held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel on
September 28-30, 2008. The conference will focus on the theme: “The Printing and Graphic Arts Industry in the
Generation Years of Globalization.” No less than Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has been invited
as keynote speaker.
FAGAT is an organization composed of nine member countries, to date: Japan, China,
Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, Sri Lanka and the Philippines. Its goal is to provide a common
forum as well as the right environment for high quality information and technology exchange where Asian printers
can best position the printing industry in a globally competitive market. The organization focuses not only on
solving the changes and threats but also on developing the solutions to such challenges in order to create an
effective path for the future.
PPTF is currently undertaking all necessary preparations to ensure that the event will
turn out to be a resounding success. It is inviting the printing industry leaders, thinkers and innovators of all
nine member countries together with some non-member countries (Brunei Darussalam and Vietnam) as guests and
observers. Around 200 foreign guests are expected to attend the conference.

PIAP Elects New Officers and Directors for
2008
The Printing Industries Association of the Philippines (PIAP)
recently elected its officers and directors for the year 2008. Elected as President was John L. Choa. Mr. Choa
(left photo) had served as President of PIAP several times before; and he is expected to utilize his past
experience to lead the association to greater heights this current year.
To date, the association has been actively pursuing various activities for its
members. Last February, the 1st General Membership Meeting was held at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel with the
sponsorship of Graphic Sales Center, Inc.. A presentation of the HP Indigo Digital Press was conducted by Mr.
Andrew Ng of Hewlet-Packard Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. The 2nd General Membership Meeting was held at Grappa's
Ristorante at the CCP Complex. The topic on "Production Printing" was conducted by the sponsor, Ubix Corporation.
The 3rd GMM is scheduled on April 29 at the Club Filipino. The Guest Speaker for the event is Mr. Pastor Guiao of
the Technical Education and Skills Authority (TESDA). PIAP also organized a delegation to attend the South China
Printing Exhibition in April.

Canon Sponsors First PPTF GMM for
2008
On March 17, amidst the elegant ambiance of Dusit Hotel Nikko,
the Philippine Printing Technical Foundation (PPTF) held its first General Membership Meeting for 2008.
Sponsored by Canon Marketing (Philippines), Inc., the event’s highlight was a
technical presentation on “Revolutionizing Digital Printing” by Singapore-based Mr. Kenny Tan, Canon Regional
Product Manager. As the event's major sponsor, Canon displayed their machines including the high-end Canon

13th Graphic Expo 2008
"New Thinking, New Solution" is the theme of the 13th Graphic
Expo 2008 scheduled on June 04-07 at the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC), Pasay City. The trade show
focuses on desktop publishing, graphic design, digital imaging, pre-press, print production, large format
advertising, web publishing, multimedia and animation. Over 8,000 visitors were registered in last year's 4-day
exhibition. The trade show is organized by Fiera de Manila, Inc..

The Graphics and Publishing
Seminar
The Graphics and Publishing Seminar 2008 is a series of seminars
organized in conjunction with the 13th Graphic Expo. The modules are designed to cater to users of Adobe and
Macromedia design software in the beginner to intermediate levels. The venue for the seminars is AIM Acceed
Conference Center at Benavides cor. Trasierra Sts., Legaspi Village, Makati City.

Mindanao Printing 2008

Mindanao Printing 2008 is the third in a series of printing
exhibition staged in the southern region of Mindanao. After being staged in Cagayan de Oro City, the event returns
to Davao City this year. The exhibition is scheduled for July 31 to August 3, 2008. Venue is SM Davao. Mindanao
Printing is organized by MAI Management Philippines, Inc. The event is supported by the Philippine Printing
Technical Foundation (PPTF) and the Printing Industries Association of Davao (PIADI). The photo, above right, shows

Print and Label Philippines
2008

After four highly successful exhibitions in the last four years,
the Print and Label Philippines Exhibition has clearly established itself as one of the premier printing events in
the Philippines.
Print and Labels Philippines 2008 will be held on October 8-11,
2008 at the SMX convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. Organizer for the event is Global-Link MP
Events International, Inc. The show is co-organized by the Philippine Center for Print Excellence (PCPE) and is
supported by the First Association of Self Adhesive Labels Industry of the Philippines (FASALIP) and the Philippine
Printing Technical Foundation (PPTF). In 2007, the show registered 21,804 visitors in just four
days.

Filipino Printers Forum is Now
Online

The new version of the Filipino Printers Forum is now
operational. The original version of the forum which went online during the last quarter of 2006 experienced a
fatal crash due to hard drive problems at the forum site provider. Before the crash, the original forum had more
than 35 registered members.
The forum was established to serve as a venue for members of the
printing industry to share information on matters relevant to their field by posting messages on the internet based
bulletin board.
Incorporated in the new version of the forum is an improved user
interface which is more attractive and easier to use. Additional features have been added, such as the ability of
members to choose their avatar from a large library of icons and images. The categories and forum titles have also
been revised to make it easier to search topics for discussion. The categories are designed to cover the different
sectors of the industry from print buyers to printing industry suppliers.
